This first download is a clip using forced perspective to hide a mechanism. One benefit is the splatter will go exactly where you want it. Another benefit would be chunks and matter can be added for a less viscous meatier hit. The farther you pull the actor back the larger radius the splatter will be.
Much like its pyrotechnic counterpart, the mechanism is secured to the actor under the costume. The costume is scored and stuck back together.
This is another test with a specially fabricated mechanism that allows a lower profile with a more explosive result
